A high-angle panoramic view of Cartagena, Colombia, showing the colonial rooftops, courtyards, and the yellow dome of the Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver in the Walled City, with the modern skyline of Bocagrande and the ocean under a dramatic cloudy sky in the background.

From the translucent turquoise waters of the San Blas Islands in Panama to the vibrant, historic streets of Mexico and the deep green, foggy mountains surrounding Medellín, Colombia, Latin America offers landscapes as diverse as its people. It’s a region where ancient traditions don’t just sit in museums, but are woven directly into everyday life: visible in hand-painted buses, intricate textiles, and bustling colonial plazas.

I found the true soul of these lands in the fleeting moments and small details. It was watching experienced hands flip giant corn tortillas on a blistering griddle in Oaxaca, and cooling down with a sweet, refreshing raspado while walking the historic cobblestones of Casco Viejo in Panama. It was catching the flash of a vintage car rolling past Havana’s faded pastel facades, and the rhythmic allure of a late-night tango show in Buenos Aires. I wandered past the vibrant graffiti and flower-draped balconies of Cartagena, braved the earthy, grass-like taste (sorry!) of local mate in Montevideo, and felt my adventurous side come out while zip-lining through the lush Costa Rican jungles.

My aim in sharing these stories is to celebrate the incredible spirit, deep heritage, and fierce cultural pride that shapes the beauty of this region. This is a growing collection of highlights and human connections from my journeys through Latin America. I hope these guides inspire you to immerse yourself fully in its warmth, rhythm, and magic.
